18 weeks

Filed under: Uncategorized — Premalatha @ 12:35 pm

18 weeks finishes today.

I haven’t felt the kick yet.

They say the baby can hear me. It can hear the noises from the outside world. It can also sense some bright light.

Back pain is still there. It has made me very immobile (imo). I do go out, drive, and climb the stairs. But I should be more mobile than I am now. What if I was working? Pregnant women in general may be less efficient than they normally are, but I am absolutely not fit to work at all. I won’t be of any use to any employer. May be fit for coding or receptionist kind of jobs. But I have no experience or skills for such jobs.

Going to see my physio today.

Will get the result for triple test today. Since we have already had the Nuchal scan done, the result of which came out as low risk (1/2400), I am not too worried about the triple test result.

I have appointment for anomaly scan for tomorrow.  Hope it goes well too.

Next week or may be this weekend we will decide about going for gender scan.

16th week

Filed under: Pregnancy, Second Trimester — Premalatha @ 10:25 am

16th week starts today.

Have gained 5 kilos.

Midwife says that since I was slim (not anymore), my bones were not used to carrying weight and hence they complain, hence the back pain. Prescribed to go for physio.

Gender of the baby should be detectable in ultrasound scan. As in certain counties in UK, which includes ours, the gender is not revealed to the parents, we have to go for a private scan if we want to know. We are not going for private scan at this time.

Not as active as I was before pregnancy, but certainly far better than how I was during the first trimester. I guess when they say second trimester is the period to enjoy, they say it in relative terms.

They say the child can hear from this week.

I am also warned that I might feel the kick in about couple of weeks or even earlier.

I am alarmed by my weight increase. Tempted to control a bit. But when the craving for food strikes, my wanting-to-control goes down the drain. Hope I will be able to regain my control after the delivery. I do not like being fat.

14th week

Filed under: Pregnancy, Second Trimester — Premalatha @ 8:07 am

Do not feel too tired.

Do not feel hungry all the time. I actually feel enough and stop eating sometimes.

Do not have nausea.

Wind issue is subsiding.

Back pain is less but is there.

Have cravings for burger and fries. Do not like pizza.

Just since yesterday pungent food does feel pungent. Otherwise I have been eating hot food like sweets when TOH was having tears in his eyes.

Have constant pain in the pelvic bones since last week.

Bloated

Filed under: First Trimester, Pregnancy — Premalatha @ 12:01 pm

My tummy looks too big and I have severe back pain. I can’t walk for more than ten minutes. I can not bend and do things. For Godsake, I even breathe heavily when talking! I feel like I am fully pregnant. Midwife says, some do get it like this and it is the wind, she says!

I did not have perfectly flat tummy before, but it wasn’t too bad. After the laparoscopy, it was bloated and was bigger all the time. But the doctors told me that for some people it may take few months to subsiding down. Ahh, the joy few got in seeing me disfigured! They did not miss a single chance to be nasty at me, I tellya. :-) Knowing how great I am ( ;-) ), I obviously forgave them, after all, their simple head didn’t give them a clue that they were actually flattering me by doing what they did. So I enjoyed. :-)

Now, I am fully bloated. I do not know this is the laparoscopy gas still hasn’t subsided down, or it is simply the case of one type of pregnancy issue.  Anyway. It is TOH who suffers, as he has to do a lot of work himself.

If any of the mommies or preggies who read this blog had/has similar problem, please give me tips. It will give me the I am not alone feeling first of all.  Thanks in advance.

Eating habits

Filed under: First Trimester, Food, Pregnancy — Premalatha @ 11:42 am
  1. I munch all the time. Alternative to my caffeine fix.
  2. I don’t mind yogurt everyday. I don’t hate yogurt, but I can’t bear to see it for  consecutive day, until now. Now I can have yogurt everyday. But, it has to be just once a day. I need my apple pickle to get that yogurt rice down my throat. (cooking apple, pickled similar to mango pickle, made fresh with salt and chilli powder with garnishing).
  3. Give me any fruit. I can inhale it.

Eating

Filed under: First Trimester, Pregnancy — Premalatha @ 2:40 pm

I am eating all the time. Atleast munching on something all the time. I used to be on coffee 24hrs before pregnancy, but now since I had to reduce it, it is something or other munching all the time. Not just the coffee craving alternative munching, but I am feeling hungry all the time in general. I know they say it is just 200 extra grams of food is all that is required for the other person  growing inside me, but i am hungry all the time and I am munching all the time. I don’t seem to have gained weight either!

How are you doing?

Filed under: First Trimester, Pregnancy, Tips — Premalatha @ 6:11 pm

The stomach pains have gone without notice.

  1. But have sever back pain these days.
  2. Heavily bloated.
  3. Sometime constipation problems.

Tips:

  1. I chew fennel seeds after food or anytime when I feel like it.
  2. I drink mint tea (Add crushed mint leaves in tea and filter it out). Fennel seeds or the mint or together they seem to have helped to cure problem #3.
  3. I carry a cushion around to support my back.

Otherwise I feel a lot better than previous weeks.

The little one

Filed under: First Trimester, Pregnancy — Premalatha @ 6:49 am

Entering 9th week

This is an exciting week for your embryo, which is now officially recognised as a foetus, which means “little one”.

Your baby’s heart has four chambers and the liver is producing red blood cells……..

The face is very human looking although the eyelids are still closed tightly over the developing eyes. The hands can bend at the wrist and the feet begin to lose their webbed appearance. Your baby is very active, already moving his arms and legs, although you can’t yet feel the movements.
